Greetings from Chatty Cathy!  Yeah, that’s been my nickname since I was a kid, because, well, I really enjoy chatting.   Thank goodness for the internet which offers so many opportunities, even when I’m in my writing cave.   I’m pleased to announce  I now have an exciting new message thread over at eHarlequin.com called “Catherine’s Mannly Men.”    The posting pace won’t be quite as zippy as the online party this weekend, but I will be stopping in to visit at least once a day.  Here’s the scoop!

What makes a hero a hero? Desire author Catherine Mann believes a hero can take many forms, crossing all the lines published by Harlequin/Silhouette. During the first week of every month, please join us as she introduces us to one of her author friends who will share a new tidbit on great heroes. The rest of the month, feel free to hang out, have fun, and join in the party!

I’ve also posted a 5 book giveaway for the opening week of Mannly Men (winners drawn at random on October 4, 2009.)  You don’t need to register at eharlequin.com to read the thread and enter the contest.  You only need to register if you want to post.

My Time Traveler Hubby

My hubby’s not a time traveler but I feel like he plays one in a movie. Sorta. :-)

I guess I should explain, LOL!

For those of you who aren’t familiar with the book TIME TRAVELER’S WIFE by Audrey Niffenegger (movie opened this weekend) – here’s the basic premise. Hero/Henry has a genetic defect that makes him time travel, although he has no real control over when it happens or how long he’s gone. Claire is his wife. If you’ve seen a trailer on TV for the movie, you get that much.

So without going into spoilers it’s obvious TIME TRAVELER’S WIFE is a paranormal – not based in reality – yet I found myself identifying with Claire both when I read the book and saw the movie. (Sure the movie had to leave lots of the book out – the book was LONG – but still it worked for me.) I’ve thought long about why the book and movie touched me so deeply and I think it has something to do with being a military wife. (more…)

My husband returns from a 2 month TDY to DC on the very day I leave for a writers’ convention in…. yep, you guessed it…. DC. I can’t decide if that’s just life’s irony or the Air Force displaying a wicked sense of humor. ;-)

Can I have some money, Mom?

My younger teenage son asked for money this evening. I told him he could have all that was left in my wallet. (I knew it wasn’t much.) He raced to my wallet, opened it, frowned, searched all the pockets, and yep found all I had was…

“Two dollars? That’s all you’ve got to give me, Mom?”

To which my older son replied, “She gave you one of the eggs from her ovaries. Isn’t that enough?”

I still haven’t stopped laughing.

Okay, booklover brought up an interesting point over in the discussion about my audio book being released. She said she’s really into ebooks. So I figuerd this would be a good time to let you know about an opportunity to have your voice heard on Harlequin/Silhouette authors whose backlist you would like to see reissued in ebook. Harlequin has set up a thread on their message board for the discussion and they’ve also provided an e-mail link in case you would rather not post on the message board.
